Home Maintenance Tasks That You May Have Overlooked

Do you take great pride in keeping a tidy and well-maintained home? Even those of you who are vigilant in checking seals around doors and who annually clean out dryer vent ducts may be overlooking these maintenance items.

  1. Look UP the next time you are in the bathroom. Look for signs of leaks on your bathroom ceiling. It’s common for pipe boots to fail in homes of a certain age. To prevent this from happening, they may need to be caulked or sealed at the bottom.
  2. Dust the condenser coils on the back of your refrigerator. When condenser coils get dusty, your fridge has to work harder to keep food cold. Move your refrigerator away from the wall three or four times a year and wipe off the condenser coils with a damp cloth.
  3. Clean your window weep holes. Even the tidiest homes may have clogged window weep holes. Poke a wire hanger or paperclip into the hole or spray it out with compressed air. This will keep rainwater from building up and leaking into the inside of your home.
  4. Get your roof inspected. The parts of your home that are out of sight are often out of your mind. Unfortunately, homeowners seem to forget about their roofs when completing routine home maintenance tasks. Skylights and any other breaks in the roofline need to be checked once a year.

Integrity Roofing is committed to the homeowners of Kansas City. We are happy to help you inspect your roof, windows, siding, and gutters so that you can prolong the life of these expensive components of your home.
