The next time you pull into your driveway, stop for a moment to examine the entrance to your house. Instead of rushing through your doorway to quiet your welcoming dog, think about what your front door and porch say to your visitors. Is it warm and welcoming? Is it attractive? Is it ready for holiday visitors?
If you don’t like what you see, reach out to Integrity. It’s not too late to update your front door or surrounding windows to give your house a new look.
Once your new door and windows are installed, you’ll have so much fun decorating the area for the holidays! Here are some tips on achieving that HGTV-worthy design that would make a perfect backdrop for holiday photos.
- Take a wide-angle approach to decorating.
Do you typically hang a holiday wreath on your front door and “call it good?” This year, step back from your front door and determine how you can decorate the surrounding area.
Is there room for fresh garland to be hung over the top of the door? Why not place small, lit trees on either side of the entrance? Why not hang red and white pennant garland from the roof of your porch?
- Consider the scale and proportion of your decorations.
Amateur decorators often don’t consider the size of the space when decorating. If you have a larger-than-normal entryway, your wreaths, garland, and other decorations need to fill the space.
- Think about your visitor’s safety!
We hate to be a Debbie-downer, but as you decorate your front door and porch, be considerate of those visiting your home. While everyone loves a well-lit house for the holidays, make sure the cords don’t stretch across the path of visitors and delivery drivers.
Happy Holidays from Integrity! Let us know how we can help you create the entryway of your dreams.
